How this ranking is made
Every show on this page earns its place by consensus, not by star rating. We collect dozens of published rankings — critics' lists, magazine round-ups, fan polls and community votes — and merge them with reciprocal rank fusion, which rewards a show for appearing near the top of many independent lists rather than at the very top of one. That makes the order hard to skew: a single outlet's idiosyncratic favourite can't buy its way up, and a show everyone quietly agrees on rises even where no one called it number one. AI-generated lists are down-weighted.
The ratings beside each entry come from a different place entirely — IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes critics and audience, and Metacritic — and are shown so you can see where the crowd and the critics part company. A Critics' darling badge means reviewers scored it at least 15 points above the audience; Crowd-pleaser is the reverse; Unanimous acclaim means every source agrees it is very good. Those badges are not part of the ranking — they describe it.
